James is a partner at SystemiQ and Chairman of the Overseas Development Institute. He is also an adviser to the Climate Bonds Initiative and Carbon Tracker, and a trustee member of the UK Green Building Council. Previously, he was a non-executive director of Solarcentury and co-founder and chairman of Climate Change Capital (CCC), which grew to be a thriving banking business employing 150 people with $1.5 billion under management. Whilst at CCC, James was named Leader of the Year 2013 at the BusinessGreen Leaders awards.
After starting his career at Google, Sam led the Environmental Investment Organisation (EIO), a not-for-profit research body to become the first and only organisation in the world to rank the world’s largest listed companies by their greenhouse gas emissions and disclosure. In 2014 he co-founded Engaged Tracking to commercialise the work of the EIO. Sam is author of Environmental Tracking 3.0 and serves on the Board of a human rights NGO. He also mentors several other young companies in the climate change sector. Sam holds a first class degree in French from the University of London Institute in Paris.
Brigitte is an expert in strategic business development, with more than fifteen years experience of innovation in finance. She has developed new companies, products and services for a number of FTSE100 companies in Europe and the United States. She is a passionate advocate of creating great working environments in companies, a practicing coach, and an environmentalist. Brigitte speaks five languages, holds an MBA from Insead and a degree in Investment and Financial Risk Management from Cass Business School.
Jonathan has over a decade’s worth of expertise in portfolio risk modelling. Before co-founding Engaged Tracking, he completed the development of a global multi-asset class portfolio risk model at Credit Suisse. He has worked at investment and trading houses across four continents. Jonathan holds an MSc in Financial Mathematics from Stanford University and a BSc (Honours) in Physics and Mathematics from the University of British Columbia. He is currently completing an executive PhD in Finance at EDHEC Business School, the leading business school for index-related financial research.
Oliver has more than 13 years experience of working to deliver results for C-suite executives at financial services firms and corporates. He has worked with leading consultancy CEB, Reed Business Information among other organisations that serve clients by improving business performance and financial results. Oliver designed Engaged Tracking’s Engagement function and is experienced at running and maintaining distribution teams. He has worked in the UK, Continental Europe and Australia.
Pekka is responsible for investor engagement at Engaged Tracking and has lead the development of ET’s cutting edge TCFD-aligned scenario analysis work. The scenario analysis which module which forms part of the ET Portfolio Analytics package enables investors to make asset allocation decisions in line with the latest climate science. Pekka is an experienced climate and investment professional with a broad range of experience from international climate negotiations, renewable energy and finance. Pekka has worked on onshore wind deployment at RenewableUK and has represented the UK as a delegate at COP21 for the UK Youth Climate Coalition (UKYCC). Prior to joining Engaged Tracking, Pekka headed campaigns for the Environmental Investment Organisation (EIO) and completed his military service in the Finnish Defence Forces. Pekka graduated from University College London with a First Class degree in History.
Kasper has a passion for climate science and a background in data analysis, statistics, scientific research and ecology. At Engaged Tracking, Kasper runs data analysis on client portfolios and leads on index backtesting for client investment strategies. He also analyses the ET Carbon Rankings data to find new and compelling statistical insights e.g. the link between corporate emissions and corporate profitability. Kasper holds a Bachelor’s in Marine Biology, Ecology & Biodiversity and Statistics, as well as a Master’s in Marine Biology from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.
Greg is a specialist in environmental economics and greenhouse gas emissions reporting. He is responsible for the compilation of the data for the ET Carbon Rankings each year, and works closely with our product team to ensure our analytics tools for investors and corporates are best-in-class. He leads our corporate engagement activities, where he responds to corporate queries and helps companies to improve their greenhouse gas emissions reporting and disclosure. Greg holds a Bachelor’s in Ecology and a Master’s in Environmental Technology from Imperial College, London.
Anthony comes from a climate change and remote sensing research background. Prior to joining Engaged Tracking, he worked as part of a research group based at The University of Exeter’s Environment and Sustainability Institute (ESI) to develop a methodology utilising satellite data to explore ecosystem changes in the Himalaya caused by retreating glaciers and rising temperatures. Anthony has also been involved in work mapping ocean CO2 in the Amazon Plume Region using satellite images.
Tom is a Biology graduate from Bristol University. He has previously worked at CDP, Systemiq and the Global Canopy Programme, where he furthered his interest in climate change policy and science. Prior to working at Engaged Tracking, Tom was working in Quito, Ecuador for Fundacion Futuro Latin America, where he worked on implementing conservation and climate change policies at local governmental level.
Since joining Engaged Tracking in 2017, Poppy has managed the team that is working on research projects involving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. She aims to make these more accessible to investors, provide insight into the interaction between social responsibility and investment while empowering investors to make better decisions. Poppy has a First Class degree in Environmental Science from the University of Reading. Poppy is a keen rower who has won a number of National titles and has represented Great Britain at the European University Championships where she won a Bronze medal.
Natalia has worked at a number of Corporate Finance and Private Equity firms prior to joining Engaged Tracking, including Permira, where she worked with the Head of ESG. Whilst at Arup, Natalia developed an econometric model to forecast European electricity demand. She has a Master’s degree in International Development from King’s College London and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Bristol University.
Sebastian co-founded Engaged Tracking with Sam Gill and Jonathan Harris. He was an Executive Director at the company until 2016 and continues to serve as a Strategic Advisor and Board member for the Environmental Investment Organisation, the incubating think tank that gave rise to Engaged Tracking. Before setting up the company, Sebastian spent fours years as an investment banker between Paris and London. He is a non-executive director and investor in several start-up businesses, and also owns an IT consultancy firm. Sebastian holds a Double Honours degree in Political Science and French.
Chris Huhne is a director and adviser at a number of businesses in renewable energy and climate change. He is currently a Senior Adviser at Engaged Tracking. Formerly the UK Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, as well as a member of the UK and European Parliaments, he was responsible for a UK political party’s first comprehensive zero-carbon change programme. Before politics, he was group managing director of the sovereign group at IBCA and Fitch Ratings. Chris holds a first class degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from Oxford University.
Jamie has over 20 years experience working in the financial information and index industry. He has held a variety of roles in operational build and support, acquisition and rights management, partnerships/collaboration and strategic business proposition ownership. Prior to joining Engaged Tracking, Jamie was based in New York, Toronto, and most recently Zurich as Head of Commercial Strategy & Business Development for Thomson Reuters Indices. At Engaged Tracking, Jamie provides strategic advice and helps to oversee our legal and contract discussions with clients.
